England clinch title with crushing victory over Wales

Scots beat Irish to avoid wooden spoon in 

Senior Men's Home Internationals

European champions Scotland avoided the wooden spoon in the Senior Men's Home Internationals by beating title-holders Ireland 5.5-3.5 on the final day at Machynys Peninsula, South Wales.
The Scots shaded the morning foursomes 2-1 with one-hole victories by Malcolm Reid and David Gardner, and Ronnie Clarke and David Shields.
Scotland also had the edge, by 3.5 to 2.5 in the singles, with the tail wagging furiously to produce wins by Graham Bell (3 and 2), Ian Brotherston (2 and 1) and Clarke (5 and 4).
England regained the title in emphatic fashion, crushing the challenge of Wales by 8.5-0.5 after taking the foursomes 2.5-0.5 and the singles by a 6-0 whitewash
England won all three matches, Wales won two, Scotland one, and Ireland none.

B O'Leary and L Halpin lost to R Clarke and D Shields 1 hole.

Mitchell halved with Reid
O'Leary bt Shields 1 hole.
Kelly bt Gardner 5 and 3.
Halpin lost to G Bell 3 and 2.
B Donlon lost to Brotherston 2 and 1.
Quirke lost to Clark 5 and 4. 

Foursomes (0.5-2.5)
N Evans and N Grimmitt halved with S East and R Latham.
G Rees and C Jones lost to D Niven and M Stones 5 and 4.
A Williams and P Bloomfield lost to I Crowther and D Nelson 3 and 2.
Singles (0-6)
Jones lost to Niven 2 and 1
Rees lost to East 5 and 4
M Gwyther lost to A Mew 4 and 2
Williams lost to Latham 1 hole.
Grimmitt lost to Nelson 1 hole
Evans lost to Stones 3 and 2.
