James Steven in with a chance of £10,000 prize
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
A total of 12 Scots survived the second-round at the PGA EuroPro Tour 54-hole competition at Close House Golf Club, Northumberland.
But only one has a real chance of winning the £10,000 first prize.
James Steven (Clydeway Golf) has had great scores of 68 and 66 for six-under 134 and is lying second, two shots behind the English leader, Billy Hemstock (69-63 for 132). That 63, seven under par, was a new course record.
After Steven, the next best Scot is John Henry (Clydebank and District) in sixth place on 137 after rounds of 68 and 69.
The improving Louis Gaughan (Bathgate) is tied for seventh place on 138 (68-70).
Two Paul Lawrie Golf Centre players, Sean Lawrie (70-71) and Kris Nicol (68-73) are sharing 15th place on 141.
