Australian Aaron Baddeley held off Si Woo Kim in a play-off at the Barbasol
Championship to claim his first US PGA Tour victory in five years Sunday. After making three pars at the first three play-off holes along with
Kim, Baddeley made a birdie at the par-4 18th to put Kim away. Baddeley, once dubbed as the next big thing,
has had a bit of a resurgence this season, posting four top 10s and six
top 25s coming into this tournament. But a victory had eluded him since the
2011 Northern Trust Open. The fact that all the Tour "big names" were over in Scotland at the Open, certainly made it easier for the Australian ... but you still have to beat the other guys. Baddeley shot a 5-under 66 in his final round, which included birdies
at 16 and 17 to force a playoff with Kim, who bogeyed 18 for his only
slip up of the day. Kim shot an 8-under 63, which included seven birdies
and an eagle. For Baddeley, the win marks his fourth career victory on Tour, and deprived Kim of his first career victory. Kim, in his first full season on tour, grabbed the best finish of his career, and his third top 10 of the season. Rookie Michael Johnson captured a third-place finish in his pro debut. A final-round 6 under moved him to 17 under. Four golfers, including Jhonattan Vegas who led for most of the four days,
finished three shots back at 15 under. Vegas had to finish his third
round Sunday, and played his last five holes in that round at even par. Vegas then struggled on his first nine of the final round, with four
bogeys. He was saved a bit by an eagle at the par-5 5th. Vegas posted two more birdies on the back nine to get to 1 over par and finish at 15 under.
