Angus Bendall wins first Kirkcudbright match-play championship

Angus Bendall (Castle Douglas) won his first Kirkcudbrightshire Match Play Trophy when he defeated Craig Smith (Dalbeattie) at Castle Douglas.  Both players showed why they had got to the final, playing sub-par golf even though a strong wind and constant showers made conditions somewhat tricky.
Angus was three up at the turn, having scored five 3s  in a  three-under-par 31 for the first nine. Craig was level par 34.
