Clark and Shields lead Seniors into last day

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Erskine's Ronnie Clark and David Shields (Glenearn) are joint leaders, two shots ahead of the reduced field, as they enter the final day of the Scottish senior men's open amateur golf championship at Glasgow Golf Club's Killermont course.
Clark, pictured right, winner of the Scottish seniors' order of merit last year, has had rounds of 70 and 68 for a two-over-par tally of 138.
He had an up and down day with birdies at the third, fifth, eighth, ninth, 13th and 16th but bogeys at the second, fourth, 11th and 12th in halves of 33-35.
In contrast Shields,   had one birdie (short fourth), one bogey (par-4 fifth) and 16 pars in rock-solid halves of 35.
The only men with a reasonable chance of overhauling the leaders are the four sharing third place on 140, including Scots Graham Bell from Downfield and Robert Stewart (Tulliallan).
Only those with 36-hole totals of 148 and better qualified for the final day.
