Syme top Scots finisher in jt seventh at Royal 

Dublin where Irish finish 1st and 2nd

Drumoig's Connor Syme finished tied seventh in the Irish men's open amateur stroke-play championship at Royal Dublin where home players Colm Campbell (Warrenpoint) and Jack Hume (Naas) filled the first two places, and a German the third.

Syme, pictured, was unable to post a last round challenge from fifth place overnight. A 73 after rounds of 74, 68 and 67 gave him a total of 282 - 10 shots behind the front-running winner Campbell  (68-68-66-70).
Jamie Savage (Cawder), a former winner of the Irish title, was the second highest placed Scot with rounds of 74, 73, 70 and 71 for 288 and a share of 25th place.
Liam Johnston (Dumfries and County) finished T35 on 290 and Craig Ross (Kirkhill), the only other Scot to make it through to the last round, tied for 41st place on 291.
Fraser Davren (Williamwood) 233, Nick Macandrew (Royal Aberdeen) 234, Calum Fyfe (Cawder) 238 and Ben Kinsley (St Andrews) did not survive the third-round cut.
