Paisley pair trump  Douglas Park's three aces

The Douglas Park Golf Club, Glasgow pairing of professional Robert Irvine and amateur member Andrew Frame had three eagles, including a hole in one, in their better-ball seven-under-par round of 64 at the second Lombard Trophy Scottish Qualifier at Pollok Golf Club today.
But the Douglas Park men still lost on a countback to Paisley Golf Club's pro Andrew Carlton and amateur David Walker who also went round in a be

tter-ball 64.
Only one pair could advance to the Grand Final over the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles on September 1-2 and Carlton and Walker's net inward half of 31 pipped Irvine and Frame by a single shot.
Both pros earned £437.
Carlton and Walker had birdies at the first, sixth, seventh, eighth, 10th, 12th, 14th and 15th with a bogey at the third in halves of 33-31.ec
Unlucky losers Irvine and Frame had an eagle 2 at the par-4 second, an eagle 3 at the par-5 seventh and a hole in one at the par-3 17th.They also had birdies at the 11th, 13th, 14th and 15th.
But three bogeys cost them victory. They could manage a par between them at the 10th, 12th and 18th.
Third on 65 were Drumpellier pro Ian Taylor and amateur Edwin Lamont. Taylor earned £350.
