Craig Lawrie fights back after early double bogey

Craig Lawrie fought his way back from a double bogey 6 at the second hole to finish joint leading Scot in 18th place with Paul Shields on the par-72 mark at the end of the first round of this week's PGA EuroPro Tour event, the Kerry London Championship at Burhill Golf Club, Surrey.

Lawrie birdied the first, 11th, 13th and 18th.

Ross Cameron also had a double bogey, at short 12th in a 73 for joint 36th place.
The Saltman brothers did not inspire confidence of a second-day surge. Zack worked hard to salvage a one-over 73 but is in joint 59th place. Lloyd had seven bogeys in a 76 which left in in joint 96th place and needing a big improvement to make the top 50 and ties who will progress to the final round.

Craig Sutherland (79), Kris Nicol (79), Sam Kiloh (80), Scott Borrowman (80) and Conor O'Neil (81) are similarly placed

Nicol had a double bogey at the sixth and a triple bogey at the 17th in halves of 42-37.

Kiloh had double bogeys at the seventh and eighth.
Chasing the £10,000 first prize are four men sharing the lead on 68 - Englishman Neil Raymond, Jack Colgate an Darren Wright and Irishman Alan Dunbar, a former British amateur champion.

 Four share lead on four-under 68

Four players share the 18-hole lead in the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour’s Kerry London Championship at Burhill Golf Club on four under par 68

Neil Raymond, Alan Dunbar, Jack Colegate and Darren Wright all carded opening-round 68s to share the top of the leaderboard ahead of Liam Murray who is fifth on three under.

Gary King, winner of the first two events of the EuroPro season, was one-over-par in his first round, leaving him tied 35^th.

Raymond (Corhampton Golf Club) double bogeyed the par-five second and also dropped a shot at the tenth. However, an eagle at the fifth, a birdie at eight and four more par-breakers on the back nine saw him sign for a 68 on the par-72 course.

Dunbar (Team Ireland), was the outright leader after 18 holes at Celtic Manor two weeks ago and is in a strong position again on the New Course at Burhill although he was left wondering what might have been after shooting eight birdies in his opening round. 

Bogeys at seven, 10, 12 and 17 pegged him back to four under.

Colegate (Deangate Ridge Golf Club) was two over par after four holes but six birdies, including two on the par threes at eight and 12 saw him also finish the day in 68 strokes.

Darren Wright (Golf at Goodwood) began his first 18 on the tenth tee and was two under two holes later. From the 12^th he went bogey, birdie, double bogey to be level through five. An eagle at the second took him to three under after birdies at 16 and one and a bogey on the 18^th and when he broke par at five and eight he looked set for the outright lead. However, he stumbled at his last with a five on the par-four ninth.
