ONLY LEADING 17 AND TIES WILL QUALIFY FOR STAGE 2 IN SPAIN

FENWICK TAKES TWO-SHOT LEAD AT

Q SCHOOL STAGE 1 AT KELSO

Dunbar's Neil Fenwick has taken a two-shot lead at the halfway stage of the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 1 event at the Roxburghe course, Kelso.
Fenwick shot a second-round 66 for 10-under-par 134 and is two clear of American Brett Melton (69-67) and South African Thriston Lawrence (69-67).
Overnight leader Lloyd Saltman sagged from a brilliant opening 64 to a pedestrian 73 for 137 and is lying fifth.
Only the top 17 and ties after 72 holes will go on to Stage 2 in Spain, which means that James Byrne for one is in danger of being eliminated at the first hurdle in his bid to make it to the European Tour.
Byrne has shot 71 and 78 for 149 about eight strokes above the qualifying limit at the moment..
