MELDRUM HOUSE MAKE CHAMPIONS

ROBB AND BROOKS HON MEMBERS

Meldrum House Golf Club is so proud to have two members as national champions that both have been made honorary members of the Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire club.
Barry Brooks won the Scottish Seniors Stroke-play Championship at Blairgowrie in June and Chris Robb won the Fairstone Scottish amateur championship at Downfield, Dundee last week.
"We are delighted that a comparatively young golf club like Meldrum House - formed only in the late 1990s - has already achieved the distinction of having not one but two national champions as membership," said club chairman Bob Edwards/
"We are also please that both Barry and Chris have accepted the offer of honorary membership to make their notable achievement."
Club captain Willie McPherson said: "It really is a remarkable feat for Meldrum House Golf Club, less than 20 years old, to have the Scottish seniors champion and the Scottish amateur champion as members. All our members are proud of them. Barry and Chris's performances have given the club such a 'lift.'"
Chris Robb said:
"I was very surprised and delighted to be given an honorary membership. I've always loved Meldrum House and love playing and practising there so will definitely plan on continuing that when I turne pro. The facilities are amazing!"
Barry Brooks, who was Aberdeen Links champion in 1992, said:
"I was absolutely speechless at being given such an honour from the golf club and look forward to representing Meldrum House Golf Club for many years to come."

EDITOR: I'm proud to have played my part in forming Meldrum House Golf Club in late 1990s.
I still have my membership card with No 2 on it (Bob Edwards was No 1).
It was and still is an exclusive members' club. Only members and their guests - or Meldrum House Hotel guests - are permitted to play the course designed by Oldmeldrum loon Graeme Webster who also created one of if not the best practice facilities in the North-east.
The annual membership fee is four-figure one but that's the price of privacy and the  ability to walk on to the first tee at most times of the day.
