ST ANDREWS BOYS' OPEN SCRATCH, HANDICAP WINS

SCORE A DOUBLE

WHAMMY FOR INVERNESS 

Cameron Franssen, pictured, and Kieran Mackay scored a double whammy triumph for Inverness over the Old Course on the last day of the St Andrews Boys' Open tournament today (Thursday).

Cameron won the scratch section for the Merchants Cup by beating Australia's Ben Ferguson 2 and 1 in the final after beating another Aussie, Zach Murray) 5 and 4 in the morning semi-finals.

Kieran won the handicap section for the Murray Mitchell Trophy. Playing off two of a handicap, Kieran beat Jack Coslett Green from the Houghwood club at St Helens, Merseyside, playing off five, by 3 and 1 in the final.

Nicola Robertson (Stirling), playing off four, lost to Jasmin Pnaiser from the Handsworth club near Birmingham, playing off 12, by 3 and 2 in the St Andrews Junior Ladies Open's handicap section.

The girls' scratch title for the Golf Monthly Trophy was won by Lianna Bailey from Kirby Musloe, Leicstershire. She beat Lianna Bailey (Kirby Muxloe)  6 and 4 in the final.
