DANNY FROM DUNBAR WINS AT BRUNTSFIELD LINKS
KAY COMES IN FROM THE COLD WITH
VICTORY IN SE DISTRICT OPEN
Halfway leader with rounds of 69 and 71, Kay, pictured with trophy by courtesy of the Lothians Golf Association, was caught over the third round by former Scottish boy stroke play champion Greg Marchbank (Thornhill) but the Dunbar man pulled away again with a final round of two-under-par 69 to Marchbank's 74.
VICTORY IN SE DISTRICT OPEN
Former Scottish amateur championship beaten finalist Danny Kay (Dunbar) produced arguably his best performance since he lost to David Law in the title play-off at Western Gailes in 2011 when he won the South-east District Open championship at Brntsfield Links, Edinburgh today (Sunday).

Kay's aggregate of four-under-par 280 (69-71-71-69) gave him a two shot win from
the fast finishing Ryan Campbell (Falkirk) who followed up Saturday scores of 73 and 72 with a Sunday best of 68-69 for a total of 282
Marchbank subsided to a third place tie on 285 with Jeff Wright (Forres) who finished sixth in last weekend's North of Scotland Open stroke-play for the David Blair Trophy at Elgin.
The South-east District Open championship was the last SGU 72-hole Order of Merit event of the 2014 season. It had no real bearing on the final placings as British amateur champion Bradley Neil (Blairgowrie), the clear table leader, could not be caught. He did not play in the tournament.
+What a difference a year makes! Danny Kay finished T30 on 303 - 23 shots behind the winner, Jack McDonald, in last year's SE District Open. Kay is the first Lothians player to win the title since Duddingston's Staurt Smith in 2005.
