ASIAN TOUR ANNOUNCES DETAILS FOR 2014 QUALIFYING SCHOOL

Lumpur, October 11: The Asian Tour has announced the dates for its 2014
Qualifying School, which will be held in Hua Hin, Thailand from late
January till mid-February next year.

by the Sports Authority of Thailand, the Qualifying School will be held
over two stages, the First Stage and Final Stage.
The
First Stage will be held over two sections, with Section A to be held
at the Imperial Lakeview Golf Club and Royal Thai Army Sports Center,
Suan Son Pradipat from January 29 to February 1.
Section
B will be staged over three courses - the Imperial Lakeview Golf Club,
Springfield Royal Country Club and Royal Thai Army Sports Center - from
February 5 to 8.
The
all-important Final Stage, where players will fight for top-40 finishes
to earn playing rights on the premier Asian Tour in 2014, will be held
at the Springfield Royal Country Club and Imperial Lakeview Golf Club
from February 12-15.
Players who wish to receive the 2014 Qualifying School Entry Form should write to Q-School2014@asiantour.com. The form will also be made available on www.asiantour.com in due course. Closing date for entries is January 8, 2014.
Officials said players can expect to enjoy the opportunity to play in between 26 to 28 Asian Tour tournaments next year.
With
golf returning into the Olympic programme in 2016, the Asian Tour will
also provide the best opportunities to collect Official World Golf
Ranking (OWGR) points which will be used to determine the 60-man field
in Rio De Janeiro.
Players
who compete in the 2014 Qualifying School will also be eligible to play
on the region’s secondary circuit, the Asian Development Tour (ADT),
which has grown into a record 15-tournament Schedule in what is only its
third season this year. Since the start of 2013, the ADT also receives
world ranking points which is a huge boost for the development of the
game in Asia.

Tour Chairman Kyi Hla Han said: “The strong turnout of players at the
Tour’s Qualifying School over the years is a strong testament towards
the Asian Tour’s stature in world golf and it shows that players from
all over the world view the Asian Tour as the main destination in the
region to build their careers.
“Through
our full membership in the International Federation of PGA Tours and as
the official sanctioning body for professional golf in Asia, we will
endeavor to deliver playing opportunities for players to enhance their
careers in Asia and their chances to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games
in Rio De Janeiro.”
