With golf returning into the Olympic programme in 2016, the Asian Tour will also provide the best opportunities to collect Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points which will be used to determine the 60-man field in Rio De Janeiro.

Players who compete in the 2014 Qualifying School will also be eligible to play on the region’s secondary circuit, the Asian Development Tour (ADT), which has grown into a record 15-tournament Schedule in what is only its third season this year. Since the start of 2013, the ADT also receives world ranking points which is a huge boost for the development of the game in Asia.

Asian Tour Chairman Kyi Hla Han said: “The strong turnout of players at the Tour’s Qualifying School over the years is a strong testament towards the Asian Tour’s stature in world golf and it shows that players from all over the world view the Asian Tour as the main destination in the region to build their careers.

“Through our full membership in the International Federation of PGA Tours and as the official sanctioning body for professional golf in Asia, we will endeavor to deliver playing opportunities for players to enhance their careers in Asia and their chances to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.”
