MONTROSE AMATEUR WINS MIDLAND ALLIANCE AT CARNOUSTIE BUDDON

 Montrose two-handicap amateur Jeff Strachan won the Midland Golfers' Alliance top scratch prize this week by two shots with an excellent round of 61 over the Carnoustie Buddon Links shortened winter course.
In the handicap section Sandy Mitchell, who plays off 12 at The Duke's, also won by 2 shots with a net score of 55.
Sandy also helped his team of Dennis Redford (Murrayshall) (9) and Alister Duncan (Murrayshall) (6) to win the J Ward Team competition with a score of 50.
