Knox and Gunn miss cuts in States

Scots Russell Knox and Jimmy Gunn both failed to survive the 36-hole cuts on their respective United States mini-tours yesterday.
Knox, from Inverness originally but based at Jacksonville Beach, Florida since his four years at Jacksonville University, doesn't miss many cuts and he scored his first win in the US Hooters Tour in September.
But he was two shots over the cut line with rounds of 73 and 69 for 142 in the Capitol Chevrolet Classic at The Members Club at Woodcreek, Elgin in South Carolina.
The scoring is always fantastically good on the Hooters Tour. This event has been no exception. Ryan Blaum from Coral Gable Florida leads by three with a 14-under-par tally of 130 (66-64).
His nearest challengers in the chase for the $33,000 first prize are Michigan's Matthew Harmon (69-64) and Luke List from Tennessee with 66 and 67. Both at 11-under 133.
Jimmy Gunn from Royal Dornoch campaigns on the Gateway Tour which operates its Desert Series in Arizona. Gunn had a rare "bad" round in the Gateway Tour Championship at the Legacy Club, shooting a 79 after a 74 for 153. He had only three birdies over the 36 holes - two in the first and one in the second- which is most unlike the Highlander.
Scoring not so hot as the weather here. Trevor Murphy (69-74) and Brian Prouty (71-72) share lead on 153.
