Jimmy Gunn finishes third - his best yet

on the Gateway Tour in Arizona

Dornoch exile Jimmy Gunn has flown home from Arizona for a short holiday after achieving his highest finish on the Gateway Tour.
Competing over the Raptor course at Grayhawk Golf Club in the circuit's latest Desert Series event, Gunn shot rounds of 66, 70 and 67 for a 13-under-par total which earned him $5,500 for third place behind two Americans, Brian Prouty, who collected the $9,000 first prize with an 18-under-par total of 198, and runner-up Brian Kontak who finished a shot ahead of Gunn to pip him for the $6,500 second place cheque.
Gunn had an eagle 2 at the 15th hole in his closing round which also featured birdies at the first, fourth, sixth, seventh, 11th and 12th. He had bogeys at the second, fifth and 13th.
Jimmy has won $30,277 from 23 tournaments this season, having made the cut in 14 of them and achieved five top-10 finishes in what is a very competitive satellite circuit. A player has to finish well under par in every tournament if he is to make money.
Gunn's sponsores, Circling Raven Golf Club and Coeur d'Alene Resort are pleased with the Scot's performances and are going to pay his expenses as he bids to win a player's card for the US PGA Tour. Its qualifying school process starts in October.
