Colin Robinson wins Ayrshire boys' title

Colin Robinson (Largs) is the 2009 Ayrshire boys champion after a two-stroke victory in the championship held at Irvine Ravenspark Golf Club. The championship attracted a capacity field of some of the best young players in the county.
One handicapper Robinson, who won the West Of Scotland boys' stroke-play title earlier in the season, opened with a two over par round of 73 which left him two off the halfway lead, held by clubmate Josh Nordbo, but in the afternoon Robinson improved by two shots to return a level par 71 and a two round total of 144.
Cameron McLean (West Kilbride), with a best of the day round of 70 in the afternoon, came closest to Robinson, finishing on 146.
Third place went to host club member Chris Butler with rounds of 74 & 73 for a 147 total.
The best nett return of the day was recorded by local member Liam Gourlay, the 9 handicapper returning 67 & 69 for a 6 under par total of 136.
