DUNTON WINS NORTH-EAST DISTRICT

YOUTHS' GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

 

McDonald Ellon's Adam Dunton won the North-east District youths' championship at Banchory Golf Club by two strokes with a one-under-par 36-hole total of 137.

Dunton made all the running, opening up a three-stroke lead from clubmate Kevin Duncan with a three-under-par 66 and then adding a 71 while Duncan soared to a 77 second time round.

Two players, Fraser O'Connor (Inchmarlo) and Nicholas MacAndrew (Hazlehead), tied for second place on 139. O'Connor's better second round, a 67 to a 70, gained him the official runner-up place.
