Onwards and upwards-
Iain McInally becomes
director of golf at
millionaires' retreat
on Algarve

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
St Andrews-born golf professional Iain McInally is on the move again as he continues to add to an already impressive CV.
Next week he moves from from one of the Algarve’s top venues, Quinta do Lago, where he has been general manager for the past 12 months.
Iain is moving further east along Portugal's southern coast towards Tavira and the border with Spain to become director of golf at Monte Rei, a sophisticated new luxury golf and country club that opened near the end of last year.
Set in more than 1,000 acres of coastal countryside and centred on two Jack Nicklaus-designed courses – the first of which is open for play – Monte Rei is aimed at the top levels of the market. Prices of plots for exclusive, secluded luxury villas start at 1.1 million Euros.
McInally, 38, has previously held senior positions at the Old Course Hotel, St Andrews and Fairmont St Andrews (formerly St Andrews Bay) and before that Marriott Hanbury Manor and Royal Westmoreland, Barbados.
He started out as an assistant golf professional at Worplesdon in Surrey, before moving to the highly acclaimed Wisley Golf Club, also in Surrey, after winning the prestigious award of PGA Trainee of the Year.
Hasn't Ian done well?
