PINEHURST COUNTRY CLUB'S OUTSTANDING
CLAIM TO BE "THE MOSTEST"
Message from Bob Campbell, Pinehurst & Tulliallan.
While I am sure that Palm-Aire Country Club, Florida (scroll down to see article on this website at the weekend), has much to offer, I am more than confident that the approximately 4,000 members of Pinehurst Country Club will ready to state that they belong to the golf/country club with "the mostest."
With temperatures this week in the 70s ( admittedly somewhat higher than normal for this time of the year ) they have available :
*EIGHT outstanding golf courses , of which at least five, led, of course, by the famed No. 2, are of championship standard.
*FOUR full service clubhouses, each with a fully stocked pro-shop.
*FOUR driving ranges.
*ONE nationally-ranked golf academy.
*TWENTY-FOUR tennis courts.
*THREE lawn croquet/lawn bowl courts.
*ONE 200 acre lake with marina.
I rest my case but would mention that an opinion on all this could be obtained from Callum Macaulay, the 2007 Scottish Golfer of the Year, who visited twice before graduating from the University of Mississippi.
Note from Editor Colin Farquharson.
Bob, I take my hat off to Pinehurst. That's a formidable array of facilities, I have to admit.
