MATT CRYER WINS AVONDALE MEDAL
TOURNAMENT IN AUSTRALIA

Matt Cryer won the 36-hole Avondale Medal with England colleague Gary Wolstenholme in third place as the pair made a superb start to their twin assault on four Australian titles.
Cryer, 32, from Coventry, finished on 140 after rounds of 72 and 68, finishing three strokes ahead of runner-up, Chris Carey (Lake Karrinyup) while Wolstenholme went round in 73 and 71 for third spot.
The New South Wales course at Avondale seems to be particularly attractive for English players. Steven Lewton won the Medal a year ago while Cryer finished equal second on that occasion. The pair now move on to contest the 72-hole Lake Macquarie International at Belmont Golf Club, starting on Thursday.
Scots competing in this event are Shaun McAllister (Craigielaw), Ross Kellett (Colville Park) and Craig Watson (East Renfrewshire).
