CRAIL GOLFING SOCIETY
Doreen Mayes, Reservations Secretary and Caddy Master, was voted Caddy Master of the Year at the Golf Tourism Scotland Awards. The decision was made by a panel of Golf Tourism Industry representatives who took into account considerable improvements made to the caddy service within the year, administrative competence and overall service.
All the staff and Committee at Crail were delighted with the success and consider that this is a fair reflection on the amount of hard work put into Caddy training by Doreen over the last couple of years.
The Society has recently voted through proposals to spend £1.5m on refurbishing the 100-year-old clubhouse. Originally built in 1904, after Balcomie was fully extended to 18 holes by Old Tom Morris, the clubhouse has had a variety of extensions that are now proving to be a real barrier to improving the facilities available to members and visitors.
Work will start in October 2008 and is likely to take nine months to complete.
LADYBANK GOLF CLUB
The Open Championship will return to St Andrews in 2010, from July 15 to 18. It will mark the 150th anniversary of the playing of the first Open in 1860 at Prestwick.
In 2010, the Local Final Qualifying courses will be Kingsbarns, Ladybank and St Andrews Bay's Torrance course. This will be the first time that Kingsbarns and St Andrews Bay have hosted LFQ and the seventh time Ladybank has been host since 1978.
Ladybank Golf Club have agreed with the Scottish Golf Union to stage the 2009 Scottish Boys Stroke Play Championship, an important event in the amateur golfing calendar.
LUNDIN GOLF CLUB
Following a meeting with the R and A, Lundin Golf Club have been invited to host the 2010 Junior Open Championship to be played on Monday 12th to Wednesday 14th July 2010. The Junior Open is a biennial event run alongside the Open Championship.
The event is organised and run by the R and A, inviting a boy and/or girl between ages of 12 to 16 from each country worldwide.
Golfers such as Sergio Garcia and more recently Rory McIlroy have played in this event.
By the start of the 2008 season, Lundin Golf Club will have completely upgraded their Irrigation system. This work, alongside the regular investment in course equipment, will hopefully ensure the course is maintained and produced to its usual high standards by Head Greenkeeper Willie Swan and his excellent staff.
Lundin Golf Club are delighted to see one of its members, Peter Whiteford, gain his playing card for the 2008 European Tour. After winning on the Euro Pro Tour, Peter played for four seasons on the Challenge Tour winning twice in 2007.

SCOTSCRAIG GOLF CLUB
Scotscraig, the 13th oldest golf club in the World and has hosted the Final Qualifying of The Open Championship since 1984.
Famous players such as Larry Mize, Ian Baker-Finch, Brian Barnes, Mark Mouland, Symon Dyson, Justin Rose, Sam Torrance and Duffy Waldorf have tried to qualify for The Open at Scotscraig over the years - some successful, others not so successful.
Other prestigious tournaments such as the Scottish Seniors Stroke play have also been played on this testing championship course.
2008 sees the Scotland Youths v Ireland Youths coming to Scotscraig at the end of May and the SPGA Pro Am on May 11.
The club have spent wisely on the golf course since 2001, with a full irrigation system being installed, fairways being all re-seeded, new green keepers facilities and investment in machinery only a few examples of what is going on at Scotscraig.
Alan Sharp the Course Manager arrived at Scotscraig in February 2006 and in this short time Alan and his team have put a tremendous amount of work into the course with the putting surfaces having improved dramatically over the past 12 months
