PGAs of Europe international team championship

GARY GLITTERS FOR SCOTS BUT
THEY STILL HAVE EIGHT
TEAMS TO OVERTAKE

Thanks to four-under-par round of 68 by "new boy" Gary McFarlane, Scotland climbed up from joint 16th to joint ninth on Day 2 of the 72-hole PGAs of Europe international team golf championship at Roda Golf & Beach Resort, Murcia in sunny southern Spain today (Monday).
Clober club professional McFarlane, pictured right, a stand-in for last year's star turn, Craig Lee, was well supported by Sam Cairns (Westerwood) who also got under the par of 72 with a 70. Jim McKinnon (Irvine) had the Scots trio's non-counting score of 73 on the day.
The Tartan Tour men are on five-under-par 283 but so hot is the scoring that they still have eight teams to overtake over the final 36 holes to retain the title.
Wales are setting the pace on 275, a shot ahead of Austria for whom St Andrews-born Gordon Manson shot the day's joint lowest score of six-under-par 66.
Ireland are three behind Scotland on 286 while England have lost touch with the leaders on two-over 290.
