SCOTS DOWN THE FIELD IN FIRST
EVENT OF 2006-2007 SEASON
Wallace Booth from Comrie and Fraserburgh’s Jordan Findlay finished joint 23rd and 61st respectively in their first event of the new 2006-2006 American college golf season.
Augusta State University final year student Booth had rounds of 74, 67 and 73 for a two-under-par total of 214 over a testing 7,002yd course for the Carpet Capital Collegiate tournament at The Farm Club, Rock Face in Georgia.
Findlay, just started his second year at East Tennessee State University, had rounds of 69, 81 and 74 for 224.
Chris Kirk (Georgia University) won the tournament with 68, 70 and 67 for 11-under-par 205.
Findlay’s team-mates Edinburgh-born Walker Cup player Rhys Davies and Ulsterman Gareth Shaw were the highest-placed British or Irish players in the field of 90. They were joint 11th on four-under-212. Davies scored 75, 70 and 67, Shaw 70, 71 and 71.
