PGA EUROPRO TOUR
LITTLE IS AFTER A LARGE CHEQUE
It’s been a while since Euan Little from Portpatrick – Scottish youths amateur champion in 1995 and 1996 – has been in contention to win a tournament.
But he’s certainly in with a shout of winning this week’s PGA EuroPro Tour event at Whittlebury Park Golf Club, Tewkesbury in Northumberland.
Euan, playing out of County Tipperary Golf Club, raced to the turn in 31 on his way to repeating his first-round, four-under-par 67. With a 36-hole tally of eight-under-par 134, he is only one shot behind the four joint leaders,
Englishmen Mark Smith (65-68), Warren Bennett (64-69), Kevin Harper (67-66), Michael Searle (66-67).
Former Scottish boys’ match-play champion Paul Doherty is also in with a chance of winning a four-figure cheque. The South Wales-based player had a 69 to be sharing sixth place on 135.
Jamie McLeary is tied for 15th place on 138 after a 71 and Graham Gordon is sharing 33rd place on 140, thanks to a four-birdie 69.
Carnoustie’s Eric Ramsay, pictured on right, is one of 51 players who qualified for the final round with totals of 141 or better. He made the 141 mark with a 71 which included bogeys at the 13th, 14th and 16th but a vital birdie at the last hole.
Graeme Brown from Montrose missed out by one on 142 after a 75. The Montrose man had a very costly double bogey at the 16th.
Jack Doherty also failed on 143 after a 72.
