VIKKI LAING ONLY A LONG SHOT TO
QUALIFY FOR FINAL SCHOOL
Vikki Laing from Musselburgh needs a sub-par score – the lower the better – to have any chance at all of qualifying for the LPGA Tour Final Qualifying School at Daytona Beach, Florida at the end of November.
The 25-year-old Scot is lying in joint 62nd place with one round to go in the sectional qualifying competition at Mission Hills Country Club, California.
After matching the par of 72 in the first round, Vikki has slumped down the field with a pair of 77s for a 10-over-par tally of 226.
Only the leading 30 and ties will qualify.
Samantha Head from Bedford is doing well in her bid to join her twin Johanna, who has played the LPGA Tour for a number of years.
Samantha is in joint second place on 214 (69-72-73), three shots behind the South Korean leader Hyun-Hee Moon (70-72-69). Samantha has been campaigning on the US Duramed Futures Tour this past season. She has won twice on the Ladies European Tour - the 1999 Italian Open and the 2001 South African Masters.
Sharing second place with Samantha is another player from the Futures Tour, South African Lee-Anne Pace who has shot 68, 75 and 71.
