JOHN PANTON YOUNG PROS' TOURNEY

HUGHES (67) LEADS AT GLENBERVIE

Joseph Hughes (Cardross) set the pace with a four-under-par 67 in the first round ot the "John Panton 90" Young Professional's tournament at Glenbervie Golf Club with which John was associated for so many years.
Hughes led by one shot from Lee Harper (Archerfield Links), Stuart Robin (Barassie) and Mark Loftus (Cowglen).
Graeme Lornie (Aspire Golf Centre) is well placed with a 69 and nice to see Katie Thomson, also from the Aspire complex at Ardoe, on the south bank of the River Dee, in action. Katie had an 80.
Katie won the Aberdeenshire women's county championship at Ballater back in early May. That's her pictured with the trophy on the right.
