SPENCE TROPHY TIES
PUT BACK TO THIS COMING SUNDAY AFTER
POSTPONEMENT DUE TO FOOTBALL FANS
The semi-finals and final of the Spence Trophy match-play tournament for North-east boy club champions was postponed on Sunday because of the Aberdeen v Heart of Midlothian football match at Pittodrie Stadium.
Hundreds of football fans trek across the Kings Links to the stadium after parking their cars on the promenade. It was felt this would disrupt the Spence Trophy ties which were due to be played at the Kings Links.
They will now be played this coming Sunday when the Dons are not at home.
The ties are:
Tom Spencer (Inchmarlo) v Sean Steven (Deeside).
Ryan Penny (Portlethen) v Donald Macandrew (Hazlehead).
American-born Steven, pictured right, who did well in the recent British boys’ championship at Balgownie, has come in as a replacement for Scott Fraser (Northern) who is involved on Scottish Golf Union duty on Sunday.
