JOHN PANTON 90 YOUNG PROS' EVENT

LEE HARPER WINS TOP PRIZE AT GLENBERVIE

Former Scottish boys' match-play amateur champion Lee Harper from Musselburgh, now attached to Archerfield Links Golf Club, won the John Panton 90 young professionals' tournament today at Glenbervie Golf Club, so long associated with "Gentleman John."
The event was reduced from 54 holes to two rounds because of Sunday's bad weather which washed out the opening round.
Harper, pictured right, and Stuart Robin (Barassie) tied on six-under-par 136. Harper and Robin both shot 68 in each round. The sudden-death play-off ended at the first extra hole with a birdie by Harper.
Lee took the top prize of £836 and Robin the runner-up reward of £660. The remarkable aspect of Stuart's performance was that it was his first professional tournament ever! Well done, Stuart.
Nikki Christie (Montrose Links) and Graeme Lornie (Aspire Golf Centre) tied for third place on 137 with identical scores of 69 and 68. They each picked up £458.
