Twice Scottish mid-amateur champion Allyn Dick (Shotts) led the Duke’s Course team of Des Docherty (handicap 11), George Grainger (14() and Dave Stewart (9) to victory with a net total of 135 in the DSL Scottish Golf Union am-am over the Duke’s Course, St Andrews today.
The best two nett scores from each group of four counted towards the team’s final aggregate.
Allyn Dick’s team finished two strokes ahead of former British amateur champion Craig Watson’s DSL 1 trio of Tony Baptista (20), John Davies (13) and Bill Whiteford (4).
Former Tartan Tour professional Jim White (Leven Thistle), pictured above, who has an amateur handicap of +5, had the best individual score of the 12 invited players. Jim had a 68 – three shots ahead of Craig Watson (East Renfrewshire) with Allan Dick third on 74.
Ian Hutcheon (Monfieth) won the nearest the pin prize at the third hole and Ian Mitchell (Henderson Logie) the nearest the pin prize at the 16tgh.
Scottish boys’ match-play champion James White (Lundin) – son of Jim – had the longest drive at the fourth and Stuart Clunie (Lundin) the longest drive at the 11th.
