DISAPPOINTMENT FOR NE DISTRICT

RAMSAY TURNS DOWN INVITE
TO PLAY FOR NORTH-EAST
AT LETHAM GRANGE
North-east District’s hopes of persuading United States amateur champion Richie Ramsay (Royal Aberdeen), pictured right, to play in Sunday’s Scottish area team championship tie against Angus at Letham Grange have been dashed.
“Richie played for the North-east boys team on a regular basis a few years back but, because of other commitments, he has never played for the district men’s team,” said George McIntosh, the NE District secretary.
“We thought it was worth a try to see if he would be available for this weekend but Richie says he cannot manage, much as he would like to play for the North-east.
“He is going to the Ryder Cup match in Ireland as a guest and then he is playing in the Dunhill Cup tournament.”
