IRISH MEN'S OPEN AMATEUR STROKE-PLAY

KING SHARES LEAD AT PORTMARNOCK

Glasgow Golf Club member Jonathan King shot a one-under-par 71 round the testing Portmarnock links to be sharing the clubhouse lead with about a third of the field to finish in the Irish men’s open amateur stroke-play golf championship over 72 holes.

Stockbroker King’s effort was matched by two Finns, Jukka Savolampi and Antti Ahokas, and Hugo Leon from Chile.

John Gallagher (Swanston), Scott Jamieson (Cathkin Braes) and Bryan Fotheringham from Forres were the next best placed of the 11 Scots in the field. Both were on the 74 mark.
