No place like home for Kemnay's Kiran

Nolan as he wins Jaffrey Cup

Kiran Nolan (Kemnay) used his local knowledge to great effect in winning the North-east District's match-play Jaffrey Cup over his home course today (Sunday).
Nolan is pictured receiving the congratulations of Kemnay Golf Club captain Yvonne Moir.
In the morning semi-finals, Barrie Edmond (Bon Accord) beat Ellis Gray (Meldrum House) 6 and 5 while Nolan overcame Clark Brechin (Portlethen) 4 and 3.

In the afternoon final Nolan started with five straight birdies to be five up. However, two bogeys, a birdie and a par saw him out in 34 and his lead reduced three holes at the turn. Edmond had had pars and one birdie on an outward half of 35.

Both players parred the 10th. Then Edmond birdied the 11th to get back to two down.
The 12th and 13th were halved in par before Kiran went on to birdie the 14th and 15 to win the match 4 and 3.

Par -        453 443 454  36 354 435 443 35
Nolan:     342 334 544  34 354 424
Edmond: 453 443 444  35 344 436
