Sam Locke sets pace with a six-under 48 in Farmfoods Scottish par-3 championship

The first round of the Farmfoods Scottish Par 3 Championship got underway early this morning at Paul Lawrie Golf Centre.

Sam Locke, attached to the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, made the most of the benign conditions and carded his six-under par 48 – the result of 6 twos and 12 pars – to take an early lead.  Graham Fox (Clydeway) was next best of the earlier starters as he signed for a one-under-par score of 53.

The wind eventually picked-up and with the it came some pretty damp and dreich weather for the middle-group of starters.  Sean Lawrie, playing in the same game as European Tour winner David Law, carded seven 2s but cancelled out three of these with bogeys at the 3rd, 5th and 14th holes to record a four-under-par round of 50.
Host Paul Lawrie, also playing in the worst of the conditions, made two birdies and 16 pars to sit in third place with the final groupings still on-course.

WE WILL HAVE AN UPDATE THIS EVENING AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE FIRST ROUND
