Day 3 Report – Scottish Senior Women’s Open Championship

Jennifer Bryans in form for Friday semi-final against Elaine Moffat
After today’s two rounds of match-play at Edzell, the line-up for this year’s semi-finals of the Scottish Senior Women’s Open are now confirmed.
In the top half of the draw, defending champion Elaine Moffat (St Regulus) will take on Jennifer Bryans (pictured on right) of Harburn Golf Club.  Bryans followed up a 4 and 3 morning victory over Sandra Jackson with another fantastic victory over second seed Allison Davidson by the same score line in the afternoon.

Despite entering the match-play as 13th seed after rounds of 82 and 79, Bryans is now one tie away from a shot at the title. Speaking to Scottish Golf after reaching the semi-finals, Bryans said,
“I’m delighted with today’s results and the way I played.  I’m feeling good about my game and there’s no pressure on me tomorrow.   “I played Elaine at Blairgowrie last year, so I know how good she is.  I just want to go out and enjoy it.  I’ll have a nice quiet night tonight and look forward to getting going again tomorrow.”
Bryans now faces the formidable task of trying to knock out defending champion, and this week’s stroke-play winner, Elaine Moffat.   Moffat cruised through her last-16 tie against Edzell member Ann Hay with a 7 and 6 victory, before progressing to the final with a 2 and 1 win over Iona McKean of Cottesmore Golf and Country Club.
Moffat told Scottish Golf, “I’m very happy to get through both games. I made a few mistakes but there was a lot of decent golf in there.   I’m looking forward to tomorrow a lot. It’s a great feeling to get into Friday's matches.
"I just need to regroup and reset for a new game of golf in the morning now.”
In the bottom half of the draw, Donna Jackson of Troon will face Aileen Baker of Crail for a place in the final. Jackson reached the semi-finals with a 2 and 1 victory over Caroline Steedman of Murrayfield in the morning, before an impressive 4 and 3 victory over third seed Mary Smith of Tain.
Jackson's next opponent, Baker, who finished as runner-up in the stroke-play, narrowly reached the last8 with a one-hole victory over Ellie Whyte (Aberdeen Ladies), before another narrow victory by the same score line over Elizabeth Stewart in the afternoon.
Friday's semi-finals will get underway at 8.30am, with Moffat and Bryans leading the way, followed by Jackson and Stewart at 8.45am. The final will then take place in the afternoon with a 13.20 tee off.
