McBain and Paul O'Hara tie for first place with 68s in Montrose "sprint"


Newmachar's Greg McBain and Paul O'Hara (North Lanarkshire Leisure) tied for first place with three-under-par 68s to earn £360 each at the head of a field of 56 players for the Tartan Tour's 18-hole Order of Merit sprint over the Montrose Links today (Thursday).
McBain had five birdies and three bogeys in halves of 34 (two under par) and 34 (one under)
Both McBain and O'Hara bogeyed the 17th. He also had halves of 34.
Zack Saltman (Winterfield) and Calum Nairn (Prestwick St Nicholas) shared third place on 69. Nairn will be rueing a double bogey 6 at the 14th in an otherwise sparkling inward half of 32 which was studded with birdies at the 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th and 16th.
