Chris Robb wins NE Alliance at Peterculter

despite a double bogey 6 at the 18th

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Former Scottish amateur champion Chris Robb, now a tour professional at Meldrum House, won today's (WED) North-east Golfers Alliance fixture with a four-under-par round of 67 at Peterculter Golf Club.

Robb, pictured, had so much in hand on the day over a field of 96 that a potentially disastrous double bogey 6 at the 18th did no more than reduce his winning margin to one shot from  runner-up Ross McConnachie, the host club professional.
Leading amateur on the day was Brian Nicolson (Newmachar) who shared third place on 70 with professional Kris Nicol (Dunes Golf Centre).
Robb had seven birdies, one double bogey and one bogey in halves of 32-35 for his 67.
McConnachie's only bogey was the result of a three-putt  on the first green. He covered his remaining 17 holes in four-under-par with birdies at the second, fifth, 10th and 14th.
Nicolson, out in two-under 34, was still two under the card with six to play. Then Brian bogeyed three in a row, the 13th, 14th and 15th but finished well by birdieing the 17th and 18th.
