Senior Scots lose to Irish at Southerness

Ireland beat Scotland 5.5-3.5 and England beat Wales 6-3 on the opening day of the Senior Men's Home Internationals at Southerness Golf Club.
Scotland took the foursomes 2-1 but Brotherston was the only home winner in the singles which Ireland took by a 4.5-1.5 margin.
Nairn's Robert Smith won his foursome 5 and 4 in partnership with Malcolm Reid and halved his singles tie against Liam Halpin
England established a 3-1 foursomes lead over Wales who shared the singles 2.5-2.5

Foursomes: 2-1
I Brotherston and K Gallacher lost to A Morrow and S Graham 1 hole.
R Clark and L Blair bt J Mitchell and B Hobson 3 and 2.
R W Smith and M Reid bt M Kelly and M Quirke 5 and 4.
Singles: 1.5-4.5
Clark lost to Kelly 2 and 1.
Smith halved with L Halpin
Gallacher lost to Morrow 3 and 2.
J A Fraser lost to Graham 4 and 2.
Brotherston bt Hobson 6 and 5.
Reid lost to Mitchell 2 and 1.

ENGLAND 6, WALES 3
Foursomes: 3.5-0.5
Singles: 2.5-2.5
