Weak finish costs Hannah (74) place in top 10 at English stroke-play

Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) shot a one-over-par 74 to be joint 11th at the end of the first day of the 72-hole English women's open amateur stroke-play golf championship at Coventry Golf Club.
McCook birdied the second, fifth and 10th but a weak finish - bogeys at the 12th, 15th and 17th - cost her a place in the top 10 overnight behind Isabella Holpfer (Austria), leader by six shots with a seven-under-par 66.
Hazlehead's Jasmine Mackintosh had a 77 for a share of 36th place and Curtis Cup player Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne) a 79, alongside Lorna McClymont (Milngavie) in joint 54th place.
