Johnston beats Wilson in Tennant Cup play-off

Jim Johnston (Ayr Belleisle), the Ayrshire stroke-play champion, beat James Wilson (Balmore) at the second hole of a sudden death play-off to win the prestigious 72-hole Tennant Cup over Glasgow Golf Club's Gailes and Killermont courses over the weekend.
They had tied on two-over-par 284, Johnston with rounds of 68, 72, 76 and 68, Wilson scoring 72, 74, 71 and 67.
The play-off participants finished two ahead of former Scottish amateur champion George Duncan (Windyhill) (74-72-70-70) and Matthew Clark (Kilmacolm) (71-73-74-68) on 286.
Former Cruden Bay player Stephen Roger, who has moved to Peebles this year, finished a creditable fifth on 287 (75-73-68-71)
Callum Bruce (Duff House Royal) tied for sixth place on 291.
With only the final round to go at Killermont, Roger, Duncan and Johnson were tied for the lead on 216.
