Murcar Links win Journal Cup at Peterhead by 3 from Cruden Bay

Murcar Links' trio of Bryan Innes, Corin Stewart and Anthony Bews won the Journal Cup North-east District club team title with a total of 432 (218-214) over 36 holes at Peterhead today.
Cruden Bay finished three strokes behind in second place on 435 (223-212) with Newmachar a further two shots adrift in third place on 437 (221-216).
The CSS was 72 for both rounds, which is one above the SSS of 71.
Caledonian's Matt Beattie, Barry Reid and Alan Doig led at the end of the first round with a total of 217, one ahead of Murcar Links, but the Caley trio sagged to 231 in the afternoon and finished seventh with a total of 448.
Defending champions Royal Aberdeen finished joint fourth with Bon Accord and McDonald Ellon on the 441 mark.
Newmachar do consistently well in this team tournament. They won the Journal Cup in 2016 and finished joint second with Bon Accord last year. Here they are with another top three finish. 
Murcar Links finished fourth 12 months ago.
The Journal Cup final individual totals provide the four qualifiers to contest the Jaffray Cup for the NE District match-play title tomorrow (Sunday), also at Peterhead.
