Deeside's narrow win (9.5-8.5) over Royal Aberdeen at Balgownie

Deeside Golf Club beat Royal Aberdeen Golf Club in a 36-a-side, 18-game four-ball friendly match by the narrowest of margins - 9.5 to 8.5 - over the Balgownie Links today.
Royal Aberdeen built up an early lead, 6-3, but Deeside's tail wagged and they overtook the home side by winning four and halving one of the last seven matches.
In fact, it was so close an encounter that the sides were level at 8.5pt apiece with one game to finish and Deeside's Tom McPate and A J Gove won it to give the visitors a narrow victory.

EDITOR'S SUGGESTION: Why not make this a best-of-three contest with the second leg at Deeside? Should Royal Aberdeen level it by winning over the Bieldside course then the captains could toss a coin to see where the decider would be played.
A 36-a-side contest was a great idea. Now who would like to put up a splendid trophy for annual competition?
