Rhys Enoch ends winless spell at Boavista on Algarve Pro Tour.

Rhys Enoch captured just his second win as a professional at Boavista Golf and Resort, near Lagos, with two solid rounds of 65 and 67 for a tournament total of 10 under par and a 2 shot winning margin over Josh Fagan in the Algarve Pro Tour 36-hole event on November 28-29.

It was Enoch’s first professional win since 2012 at Bowood, on The Jamega Tour and he said he was delighted to get “The Monkey” off his back and win again.

Enoch led “wire to wire” with a first round 6 under 65 to establish a one-shot lead over Billy Spooner and the veteran Michael Watson.

Tucked in behind Spooner and Watson on 4 under were Luke Groves and former European Tour winner David Dixon.

After a stuttering start Enoch settled down and turned in 2 under par but a rampaging Groves got to nine under par to lead Enoch by one and it was game on.

The back nine of any tournament produces drama and Groves, after starting with a birdie, imploded in spectacular fashion dropping 4 shots over the final 8 holes to post a tournament total of 6 under par.

Meanwhile Enoch cruised through the back nine and a birdie on the penultimate hole gave him a 2 shot cushion over the Josh Fagan, who had earlier carded a 7 under par 64 to post an 8 under par total.

A solid par at the last saw a mightily relieved Enoch home and dry against a strong field of players which should boost his confidence for his forthcoming Challenge Tour campaign.
