BLAIRGOWRIE BOY MATCHES SCOTS'
BEST AT FALDO SERIES GRAND FINAL

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Blairgowrie's Campbell Gibson matched the best Scottish second-round score of two-over 72 despite a double bogey 7 at the par-5 10th in the 21st Faldo Series Grand Final over 54 holes at Al Ain Golf and Equestrian Centre, Dubai today (Tuesday).
Gibson, pictured right with a trophy he won earlier in 2017, had a first-round 74 and his 36-hole tally has him joint 29th overall in the mixed field of 56 players. He is joint sixth in the boys' Under-18 table.
Cameron Adam (Royal Burgess) is sharing 18th place overall on 144 with scores of 71 and 73. Bogeys at the 15th and 18th after three birdies was a disappointing second-round finish.
Swiss-based Scot Cameron Neilson is joint 15th overall on 143 but her scores of 71-72, including birdies at the fourth, ninth and 18th after a double bogey 6 at the second, have her leading the Under-16 girls' category going into Wednesday's final 18 holes.
Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle), a past Scottish schoolgirls champion, has had scores of 72 and 73 for 145. She is joint 22nd overall but third in the Under-21 girls' category.
Australian Daniel Gale has forged five shots clear of the field with a nine-under-par tally of 131, made up of excellent rounds of 66 and 65.
