Banff's Callum Bruce has won twice already

on US college golf circuit

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Callum Bruce, a Scotland boy golf international cap from Banff, has had a sensational start to his college golf career in America.
Callum, a student at Midland Community College, Texas, won his first event on September 11 with two rounds of 68 for 136 in the Andrews College Invitational and won again on October 25 with scores of 68 and 70 for 138 in the Tyler Junior Collegiate.

Bidding to complete a hat-trick in this week's (November 2-3) Odessa College Invitational at Odessa CC, Texas, Callum, pictured right, only just failed to pull off a third win in a row.
In a field of 40 players, he finished joint second on 217 with scores of 70, 77 and 70, beaten by one of his Midland Community College team-mates, Michael Salazar (72-73-70 for 215).
The length of the Odessa CC course, by the way, was 7,463yd ... so for Callum to score 70 twice over a "monster" like that was very good going.

Callum McGuigan back playing for Francis

Marion University, sharing 11th place

Another Scot, another Callum has "resurfaced" on the USA college golf circuit. He is Callum McGuigan (pictured below) from Crieff. It's been a while since we heard anything about Callum who used to figure as a member of the Francis Marion Univesity golf team.

He is no longer listed on its golf roster but he does have "Francis Marion" after his name in the current, quaintly-named college event, "The Battle at Stono Ferry," at Stono Ferry Links, Hollywood in South Carolina.
Over a par-72 course of 6,756yd, McGuigan has scored 73-68 with one round to go. Leading the field of 68 players by two strokes is Hunter Dunagan (College of Charleston) with a 13-under-par tally of 131 (64-67).

LATER INFO from Ian McNeill. Callum McGuigan is a transfer student from the University of the Cumberlands with this being his first year at Francis Marion.
