Preferred lies rob McKechnie of share of West Kilbride course record of 10-under-par 61

Braid Hills pro Paul McKechnie  equalled the West Kilbride course record with a 10 under par 61 at Tuesday's Ayrshire Winter Golf Association fixture . Unfortunately for Paul, pictured below, as preferred lies were in operation, his score will not count as equalling the record. 

He had an 11-birdie card with fivebirdies in a row from the eighth to the 13th and had only one blip, a bogey on 13.
McKechnie's figures were:
OUT: 4-3-4  2-4-4  5-3-2: 31
    IN: 3-3-2  5-3-4  3-4-3: 30

Runner-up, four shots behind on 65, was Steven Maxwell (Eastwood), followed by Stephen Gray with a two-under 69.

The amateur winner of the Alan Meikle Trophy was Harry Miller (Royal Troon) with a net 68 playing off of five of handicap. One shot behind with a net 69 was Gordon Clark (Loudoun Gowf )
