Steven Pears beats Matty Wilson at 20th
 
to win Sandy Aird Cup
 
Steven Pears (Nairn) won a tremendous Under-18s final in the North of Scotland junior match-play championships at Forres Golf Club today.
He beat Matty Wilson (Forres) at the 20th hole to win the Sandy Aird Cup. Sandy, the Forres Golf Club professional, sponsors the tournament.
The Under-15s competition was was won by Logan Gillies (Nairn).He beat Euan Cuthbert (Inverness) 5 and 3 in the final.
Winner of the handicap event was Euan Docherty who plays off nine at Moray Golf Club, Lossiemouth. He beat Jack Mann (Fortrose and Rosemarkie), a 20-handicapper, by one hole in the final.
 
RESULTS:
 
UNDER-15s
Semi-finals - Logan Gillies (Nairn) bt Calum Scott (Nairn) 4 and 3; Euan Cuthbert (Inverness) bt Calum Daun (Inverness) 1 hole.
Final - Gillies bt Cuthbert 5 and 3.
 
UNDER-18s
Semi-finals - Matty Wilson (Forres) bt Jamie MacKintosh (Nairn) 2 holes; Steven Pears (Nairn) bt Lewis Bryce-Maynard (Moray) 4 and 2.
Final - Pears bt Wilson at 20th
 
HANDICAP
Semi-finals - Jack Mann (Fortrose and Rosemarkie) (20) bt Regan Main (Moray) (10) 2 and 1; Euan Docherty (Moray) (9) bt Jack MacLean (Fortrose and Rosemarkie) (12) 3 and 1.
Final - Docherty bt Mann 1 hole.
