Duddingston GC trio finish last of 25 teams as

France score home win in European Trophy

The Duddingston Golf Club trio of  Conor Scott, John Shepherd and Gordon Milligan, representing Scotland, finished last of the 25 teams who qualified to contest the European Men's Trophy tournament over 54 holes at Golf du Medoc Resort, Les Chateaux, France today (Saturday).
The tournament was won by the host nation's RCF La Boulie with a total of 414 (139-135-140). They finished 10 shots ahead of runners-up Galway Golf Club from Ireland (140-144-140) with England's representatives, City of Newcastle Golf Club, taking third place with a 425 total (144-138-143).
Pennard Golf Club, representing Wales, finished 15th with 448 (153-148-147) while Scotland had best two from three daily scores of 160, 162 and 163 for 485.
None of the trio who won the Scottish Club Championship for Duddingston  GC at Eastwood in September - Gary Thomson, David Miller and Derrick Williams - and with it a place in the European Men's Club Trophy field, was available to play in France.
Adrien Dumont de Chassart (Royal Waterloo GC, Belgium) (70-71-67) and Frederic Lacroix (RCF La Boulie, France) (67-72-69) tied for the individual championship on 208.
The leading British and Irish player was Alex Dixon (City of Newcastle) who finished joint fourth on 211 with scores of 72, 68 and 71.
Duddingston's Conor Scott (80-76-81 for 237), John Shepherd (80-88-82 for 250) and Gordon Milligan (96-86-95 for 277) finished T53, 69th and 72nd respectively in a field of 75 individuals.
