CRAIG LAWRIE AND DUFF JOINT WINNERS

OF NE ALLIANCE AT WINDY KINTORE

Professionals Craig Lawrie (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) and John Duff (Newmachar) were joint winners of today's (WED) North-east Golfers' Alliance competition in very windy and sometimes wet conditions at Kintore Golf Club.

They both shot one-under-par 69s, Lawrie with halves of 37-32, Duff 35-34, to head a field of 93 of which there were 12 No Returns.

Lawrie, 22, had never played the course before and, under the circumstances, did well to have a bag of four birdies, offset by three bogeys. He holed several 10ft putts.

Duff, on the other hand, has been a member at Kintore since he was a young junior and where his father still plays his golf.

"I played the hard holes well  and bounced back nicely with birdies at the  third and 17th after my two bogeys at the second and 16th. It would have been nice to have birdied a few more of the easier holes!" said Duff who split £290, the sum of the first and second prizes, with Lawrie,

Two more professionals, Kamran Zeynalov (Portlethen) and Ross McConnachie (Peterculter) earned £90 each for joint third place on 71.
